Space-Available travel through Naval Station Guantánamo Bay, Cuba — the AMC passenger terminal connecting GTMO to Florida, the U.S. East Coast, and the Caribbean.
Naval Station Guantánamo Bay, on the southeastern coast of Cuba, runs a Navy-operated AMC passenger terminal that is the lifeline on and off an isolated base. Its flights connect GTMO to Florida — chiefly the Jacksonville area — along with the U.S. East Coast and Kingston, Jamaica.
For a Space-A traveler, GTMO is a real board but a contested one. The terminal runs a steady, predictable schedule, and roughly half of the seats it releases fill — higher than most AMC terminals. Sign up early, plan around the schedule, and keep a backup; this is not a walk-on terminal. The big-seat opportunity is the Jacksonville rotator, while the frequent Fort Lauderdale flights release only a handful of seats each.
The move at GTMO: the airfield is on the Leeward side of the bay, reached by ferry from the main Windward side, so build the ferry crossing into your timing — showtimes are posted with matching ferry departures. Roll calls run at the AMC ticket counter on the Leeward side at 9 am on flight days. Watch the 72-hour schedule for the Jacksonville rotator and have your documents in order before you go.

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.
- GTMO is an isolated base, and its passenger terminal is the lifeline on and off the island — it runs a steady, predictable schedule of roughly 20 or more flights a month.
- GTMO is a contested board. About half of the seats it releases fill — higher than most AMC terminals. Sign up early, plan around the schedule, and keep a backup; this is not a walk-on terminal.
- The big-seat opportunity is the Jacksonville-area rotator, which carries the largest seat counts. The frequent Fort Lauderdale flights, by contrast, release only a handful of seats each — don't read GTMO's flight count as seat availability.
- Friday is the heavy day — the Jacksonville rotator, on the largest aircraft. Mid-week flights run more often than the weekend but tend to be smaller. Plan from the live 72-hour schedule.
- Cat VI reach is moderate — Category VI travelers reach the manifest on roughly two-thirds of categorized flights, and competition has been rising. Lower-priority travelers should expect to wait for a flight with enough seats.
- April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Plan Your TripQuirks Worth Flagging
- Roll calls are conducted at the AMC ticket counter on the Leeward side at 9 am on flight days. Active-duty members and DoW civilians must be in a leave status to sign up for Space-A travel.
- The airfield is on the Leeward side of the bay, reached by ferry from the main Windward side. Build the ferry crossing into your timing — showtimes are posted with matching ferry departures, and missing the ferry means missing your showtime.
- Bring at least three copies of all your paperwork — CAC, passport, travel orders — and keep them readily available.
- Baggage allowance is 2 checked bags per traveler, up to 70 lbs and 62 linear inches each, plus 1 carry-on bag (up to 45 linear inches) and 1 personal item that fits under an aircraft seat.
- All unattended baggage will be confiscated — keep your bags with you, and report any unattended bag to a Passenger Service Agent.

Common Destinations
Editorial notes to complement the live counts on the flight tables above.
- NS Mayport, FLPart of GTMO's Jacksonville-area rotator and its biggest-seat run — the main Space-A opportunity off the island, on the largest aircraft GTMO sees.
- Fort Lauderdale, FLGTMO's most frequent destination by flight count, but these flights release only a handful of Space-A seats each. Treat it as a route GTMO flies often, not as a high-seat option.
- A regular run up to South Carolina — JB Charleston is a major East Coast AMC hub and a useful waypoint for onward travel.
- Norman Manley International Airport (Kingston, Jamaica)A regular hop to Kingston, Jamaica, where AMC runs a passenger counter — a Caribbean connection point on GTMO's schedule.
- Another Jacksonville-area destination on the rotator — one of GTMO's main links into northern Florida.
- Cecil Airport (Jacksonville, FL)A Jacksonville-area airfield served by the rotator, carrying solid seat counts when it flies.

FAQ
Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.
I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?
Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.
Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?
Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.
Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?
No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
