Space-Available flights from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam — the AMC passenger terminal at the crossroads of the western Pacific.

Andersen Air Force Base sits at the northern tip of Guam, and its AMC passenger terminal — run by the 734th Air Mobility Squadron — is a crossroads of the western Pacific. Its flights connect the Japan and Korea bases (Kadena, Yokota), Hawaii, and the U.S. West Coast, with a Patriot Express rotator running roughly every two weeks.

For a Space-A traveler, Andersen is a solid board. Fill runs moderate — most flights leave with seats to spare — and Cat VI travelers reach the manifest on the large majority of categorized flights. The exception is the trans-Pacific Patriot Express run to Seattle: it uses the biggest aircraft on the schedule but is also the most contested, because it's the way home to the mainland.

The move at Andersen: regional hops to Kadena, Yokota, and Hawaii are the easy boards — take one if it moves you in the right direction. For the trip stateside, watch the Patriot Express schedule, sign up early, and confirm show times with the terminal directly rather than your booking agency. Note the terminal recently relocated down Arc Light Boulevard, past the Pet Lodge.

What the data shows

At a Glance

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.

  • Andersen is a crossroads of the western Pacific — its flights link the Japan and Korea bases, Hawaii, and the U.S. West Coast. If you're moving around the theater or staging toward the mainland, Guam is a natural connecting point.
  • Fill runs moderate — most Andersen flights leave with seats to spare, and the aircraft tend to be large. It's a solid board, not a heavily contested one.
  • The trans-Pacific Patriot Express run to Seattle is the exception — it uses the biggest aircraft on the schedule but is also the most contested, because it's the main way home to the U.S. mainland. The regional runs to Kadena, Yokota, and Hawaii stay much easier.
  • Cat VI reach is strong — retirees and other Category VI travelers reach the manifest on the large majority of categorized flights. Paired with the moderate fill, Andersen is a dependable terminal for a lower-priority traveler.
  • Volume is modest and leans toward the weekend, and the Patriot Express runs only about every two weeks — nothing is on a dense daily schedule. Plan from the live 72-hour forecast.
  • April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Quirks Worth Flagging

  • Roll call is conducted approximately 2 hours 20 minutes before departure. Show times for processing are posted on the 72-hour flight forecast — check it rather than assuming a standard interval.
  • The Patriot Express runs roughly every two weeks. Booking for passengers and pets traveling on orders goes through TMO/NAVPTO. Do not rely on show times from your booking agency — Patriot Express processing times differ from standard ones, and missing the terminal's timeline means denied travel. Confirm show times directly with the passenger terminal. The terminal accepts card payment only for Patriot Express charges.
  • Arriving on Guam: as of February 2025, Guam Customs accepts only the Electronic Declaration Form (EDF). Complete it up to 3 days before arrival at cqa.guam.gov.
  • Baggage allowance is 2 checked bags per traveler, up to 70 lbs and 62 linear inches each, plus 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item that fits under an aircraft seat.
  • Dependents 14 and older need a dependent ID card plus a passport or birth certificate for proof of citizenship. Dependents under 14 need a DD Form 1172 (a DEERS printout from MilConnect) plus a passport or birth certificate. Traveling onward to Japan on leave requires a regular blue tourist passport.
  • 100%-disabled-veteran travelers who don't hold a DoD ID card showing "Retired" status have limited eligibility under DoDI 4515.13, Table 3 — generally CONUS travel, or directly between CONUS and Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.

Where it goes

Common Destinations

Editorial notes to complement the live counts on the flight tables above.

  • Andersen's busiest destination — a frequent run northwest to Okinawa, on large aircraft with seats to spare.
  • A regular run to Hawaii and the central-Pacific transit hub — a useful waypoint toward the U.S. mainland.
  • The trans-Pacific Patriot Express run home to the U.S. mainland — Andersen's largest aircraft, but its most contested flight. Sign up early and keep a backup.
  • A regular run to the Tokyo area — one of Andersen's main links into mainland Japan.
  • An occasional long run to Northern California — the airlift route to the West Coast alongside the Seattle Patriot Express.
  • An occasional long run up to Anchorage, Alaska — infrequent, but a direct northern-Pacific connection when it flies.

Questions we hear

FAQ

Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.

I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?

Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.

Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?

Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.

Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?

No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
