AMC Passenger Terminal — Osan Air Base (Bldg. 648)U.S. Air Force photo

Space-Available flights from Osan Air Base, South Korea — the AMC passenger terminal run by the 731st Air Mobility Squadron, with a frequent Patriot Express run to Seattle and connections across Japan.

Osan Air Base, in Songtan about 38 miles south of Seoul, runs Korea's main AMC passenger terminal — staffed by the 731st Air Mobility Squadron, which calls itself the "Tip of the Spear" as the most forward-deployed aerial port in the U.S. system. Its flights serve Japan and the U.S. West Coast.

For a Space-A traveler, Osan is a solid, real board. Fill runs moderate — there is genuine demand here, more than the small Pacific shuttles see, but it isn't impossibly contested. The headline route is a frequent run to Seattle, the most direct way home to the U.S. mainland from Korea.

The move at Osan: if you're heading stateside, watch the 72-hour forecast for the Seattle run and sign up early; for travel around the theater, the Yokota and Misawa flights are frequent. Note that roll call here is no earlier than 3 hours 30 minutes before departure — earlier than most terminals — and the terminal is closed on weekends.

What the data shows

At a Glance

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.

  • Osan is Korea's main AMC departure point — the 731st Air Mobility Squadron, the most forward-deployed aerial port in the U.S. system. Its flights serve Japan and the U.S. West Coast.
  • The Seattle run is Osan's headline route — large aircraft and the most direct way home to the U.S. mainland from Korea. It runs often and carries meaningful seat counts; sign up early for it.
  • Yokota is the busiest intra-theater run — frequent flights on smaller aircraft into the Tokyo area — with Misawa and the other Japan and Pacific connections rounding out the board.
  • Fill runs moderate — Osan sees real Space-A demand, more than the small Pacific shuttles, but it isn't impossibly contested. Sign up early and mark present early; the busiest, most-contested flights tend to cluster mid-week.
  • Cat VI reach is strong — Category VI travelers reach the manifest on the large majority of categorized flights, and usually board when they compete. Osan is a dependable terminal for a lower-priority traveler.
  • April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Quirks Worth Flagging

  • You must be in a leave status to sign up for Space-A travel.
  • Roll call is conducted at the Passenger Service Counter no earlier than 3 hours 30 minutes before departure — earlier than the usual 2-hour-20-minute standard. Duty passengers must be in line by that time, or they are redirected to their travel office to rebook. Check the 72-hour forecast for exact roll-call times.
  • Open-toe and open-heel shoes are prohibited on organic (military) aircraft.
  • Entering Korea: active-duty members on orders may travel with a valid CAC and orders, including leave orders. All other travelers need a valid passport, and a tourist visa is required to stay in Korea more than 30 days. Command-sponsored dependents must hold current SOFA stamps or visas — renew an expired SOFA stamp at immigration before departing.
  • Baggage allowance is 2 checked bags per traveler (up to 70 lbs and 62 linear inches each), plus 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item that fits under an aircraft seat.

  • A regular run to northern Japan — small aircraft, but a steady connection into the Misawa hub.
  • A run to Northern California — the busiest Pacific-gateway terminal in CONUS, and another route home to the U.S. West Coast.

Questions we hear

FAQ

Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.

I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?

Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.

Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?

Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.

Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?

No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
