Space-Available travel from Fairchild AFB, Washington — the AMC passenger terminal near Spokane, a low-volume terminal with occasional reach to Hawaii and Europe.
Fairchild Air Force Base, just west of Spokane, Washington, is an air-refueling base. Its Air Transportation Function passenger terminal, in Building 2090 on Hansell Avenue, handles AMC passenger traffic.
For a Space-A traveler, Fairchild is a low-volume terminal — it runs few flights, and the terminal is manned only during Space-Required and Space-Available missions. But the flights it does run can reach beyond the region: occasional missions head to Hawaii and to Europe.
The move at Fairchild: watch the 72-hour schedule and sign up early. For a flight with a roll call outside weekday hours or on a weekend, you must notify the terminal of your intent to travel by 3 pm the last duty day prior. If you're routing to the UK, sort out the Electronic Travel Authorisation and GAR account ahead of time.

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.
- Fairchild is a low-volume terminal — it runs few flights, and the terminal is manned only during Space-Required and Space-Available missions. This is an opportunistic option, not a terminal you plan a firm date around.
- The flights Fairchild does run can reach beyond the region — occasional missions head to Hawaii and to Europe — so it's worth watching even though the schedule is thin.
- The terminal keeps weekday hours. For a roll call outside those hours or on a weekend, you must register your intent to travel by 3 pm the last duty day prior, or the roll call won't be supported — so check the schedule and call ahead.
- Demand is light, so an eligible traveler who catches one of Fairchild's flights generally has good odds of a seat. The constraint is how few flights run, not competition for them.
- April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Plan Your TripQuirks Worth Flagging
- The Fairchild terminal is manned only during Space-Required and Space-Available missions. For Space-A travel on a flight with a roll call between 3 pm and 7 am on weekdays, or any time on a weekend, you must notify the terminal of your intent to travel no later than 3 pm on the last duty day before the flight.
- Roll call for Space-A is conducted at the AMC ticket counter 2 hours 20 minutes before departure. Duty passengers must be in line by that time as well.
- If you are routing to the United Kingdom, travelers not stationed in the UK need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, and a GAR account is required — review the Foreign Clearance Guide or contact RAF Mildenhall, and sort both out before you travel.
- Baggage allowance is 2 checked bags per traveler (up to 70 lbs and 62 linear inches each), plus 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item that fits under an aircraft seat.

Common Destinations
Editorial notes to complement the live counts on the flight tables above.
- An occasional run to Hawaii — the central-Pacific transit hub, and one of Fairchild's longer-reaching flights when it runs.
- An occasional transatlantic run to the Navy's Mediterranean gateway in southern Spain — infrequent, but a real OCONUS connection.
- An occasional run to western Germany — near the AMC gateway hubs, when a Europe-bound mission comes up.

FAQ
Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.
I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?
Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.
Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?
Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.
Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?
No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
