Space-Available travel through Incirlik Air Base, Turkey — the AMC passenger terminal run by the 728th Air Mobility Squadron, with large-aircraft missions to Germany and the U.S.

Incirlik Air Base, near Adana in southern Turkey, runs an AMC passenger terminal staffed by the 728th Air Mobility Squadron. Its flights are organic AMC missions to Germany — Spangdahlem and Ramstein — and onward to the U.S. East Coast, often via a fuel stop in Canada.

For a Space-A traveler, Incirlik is an unusual board. The flights carry large seat counts, and almost no one competes for them, so released seats go nearly empty. An eligible traveler who is ready to fly has excellent odds — the catch isn't seats, it's access.

The move at Incirlik: access is the hard part. Space-A here is effectively limited to permanent-party and TDY personnel — family, friends, and retirees need a base sponsor to arrange a gate pass before they can travel. Sort out the gate pass, your NATO orders or Turkey visa, and your paperwork well ahead of time. Note too that the Patriot Express no longer serves Incirlik, so plan entirely from the live 72-hour schedule.

What the data shows

At a Glance

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.

  • Incirlik is an unusual board — its flights carry large seat counts, and almost no one competes for them, so released seats go nearly empty. An eligible traveler who is ready to fly has excellent odds of getting on.
  • The catch at Incirlik is access, not seats. Space-A here is effectively limited to permanent-party and TDY personnel; everyone else — family, retirees, friends — needs a base sponsor to arrange a gate pass before they can travel. Sort that out well ahead of time.
  • The Patriot Express no longer serves Incirlik — service ended October 1, 2025. Flights are now organic AMC missions, which run on a far less predictable cadence than a scheduled rotator.
  • Where Incirlik flies: Germany — Spangdahlem and Ramstein — and onward to the U.S. East Coast, often via a fuel stop in Canada. If you're eligible and trying to leave Turkey toward Europe or home, the seats are there.
  • Volume is modest and irregular — some months see only a couple of flights, others a dozen or more. With no scheduled rotator, plan entirely from the live 72-hour schedule.
  • April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Quirks Worth Flagging

  • Space-A at Incirlik is effectively limited to permanent-party and TDY personnel. All other travelers — family, friends, retirees — must have a base sponsor complete the required gate pass before traveling, and gate passes are required to enter and exit the base. Arrange this well ahead of time.
  • The Patriot Express no longer serves Incirlik — Patriot Express service ended October 1, 2025. Flights are now organic AMC missions, which run less predictably than a scheduled rotator.
  • Entering Turkey: all military personnel need valid NATO orders to arrive or depart; civilians and dependents need a passport, leave documentation, and a valid ID. Travelers on a tourist passport must buy a $30 tourist visa on arrival or apply for an e-visa in advance; no-fee government passports need no visa. Personnel stationed in Turkey are considered to be in Asia, so a passport is required even to travel onward to Germany.
  • Unaccompanied dependents entering Turkey need a Non-Command Sponsorship Letter signed by the 39th ABW Commander or Vice Commander.
  • Roll call is conducted at the AMC ticket counter no earlier than 2 hours 20 minutes before departure. Bring all checked bags, your carry-on, and your personal item to be weighed at check-in before you receive a boarding pass. Baggage allowance is 2 checked bags (70 lbs and 62 linear inches each), 1 carry-on (up to 45 linear inches), and 1 personal item that fits under an aircraft seat.
  • Photographing military installations and official buildings — Turkish or any other nation's — is strictly forbidden by Turkish law, with severe penalties including heavy fines or imprisonment.

Common Destinations

Editorial notes to complement the live counts on the flight tables above.

  • Incirlik's most frequent destination — a run to western Germany on large aircraft with seats to spare, and a gateway for onward European travel.
  • A regular run to the main AMC gateway in Europe — large aircraft, wide-open seats, and the deepest onward schedule on the continent.
  • A transatlantic run to Delaware — one of Incirlik's direct links home to the U.S. East Coast, on large aircraft when it flies.
  • An occasional transatlantic run to central New Jersey — another East Coast arrival point on Incirlik's organic missions.
  • An occasional transatlantic run to South Carolina — JB Charleston is a major East Coast AMC hub.
  • A rare long-haul run to the Pacific Northwest — infrequent, but a direct West Coast connection when one flies.

Questions we hear

FAQ

Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.

I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?

Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.

Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?

Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.

Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?

No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
