Space-Available travel through RAF Mildenhall, the AMC passenger terminal and gateway to the United Kingdom — run by the 727th Air Mobility Squadron in Suffolk, England.
RAF Mildenhall, in Suffolk, England, calls itself the “Gateway to the United Kingdom,” and its AMC passenger terminal — run by the 727th Air Mobility Squadron — is a well-known arrival point for Space-A travelers headed to Britain. As a departure terminal, though, its Space-A profile is narrower than its flight count suggests.
Most of Mildenhall's departures are a high-frequency run to Naples, Italy that releases almost no Space-A seats — those flights aren't real options for a Space-A traveler. The genuine opportunities are the run to Ramstein, which carries meaningful seat counts, and occasional flights to the U.S. East Coast. Those are fewer and less predictable, so set your expectations to match.
The move at Mildenhall: if you're trying to leave, watch the 72-hour schedule for a Ramstein or CONUS flight rather than counting on the Naples shuttle, and keep a backup plan. And handle the UK paperwork early — travelers not stationed in the UK need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, and a GAR account is now required; sort both out before you travel.

Editorial summary of the live numbers below.
- Read Mildenhall's flight count carefully. Most of its departures are a high-frequency run to Naples, Italy that releases almost no Space-A seats — those flights are not real Space-A options. The genuine opportunities are far fewer than the raw number of flights suggests.
- The real Space-A seats at Mildenhall are on the run to Ramstein — which carries meaningful seat counts — and on occasional flights to the U.S. East Coast. Plan around those rather than the Naples shuttle, and expect the CONUS flights to be infrequent.
- Even the boardable flights fill very lightly — competition for seats is minimal. If a Ramstein or CONUS flight is headed your way with seats released, getting on isn't the hard part; finding one on the schedule is.
- Cat VI reach is high on the flights that actually carry Space-A seats, though the sample is small. Lower-priority travelers aren't the constraint at Mildenhall — flight availability is.
- Flight volume is modest and spreads fairly evenly across the week, with no dependable daily rhythm. Mildenhall's flights are mission-driven, so plan from the live 72-hour schedule.
- April 2026 saw an unusually high spike in flight volume across many AMC terminals — probably driven by real-world operations rather than typical cadence. Weight the other months more heavily when planning your trip.

Plan Your TripQuirks Worth Flagging
- UK Electronic Travel Authorisation: since January 8, 2024, travelers not stationed in the UK must obtain an ETA before arriving. Apply through the official UK government ETA service well ahead of travel — it isn't something you can sort out at the terminal.
- A GAR (General Aviation Report) account is required for travel through RAF Mildenhall. Review the Foreign Clearance Guide's United Kingdom entry for current GAR guidance, or contact the passenger terminal — set the account up before you travel.
- Service animals are not permitted to enter the United Kingdom at RAF Mildenhall. Plan accordingly if you travel with one.
- Dependents 14 and older need a U.S. USID dependent ID card and a valid passport. Dependents under 14 need proof of sponsorship — obtainable from your Military Personnel Office via DEERS (DD Form 1172) — plus a valid passport.
- Travel is refused to passengers who are barefoot or in open-toed shoes, or who are intoxicated, unruly, or in tattered, dirty, revealing, or profane clothing. Smoking, tobacco, and e-cigarette use is prohibited on all AMC flights.

Common Destinations
Editorial notes to complement the live counts on the flight tables above.
- By far Mildenhall's most frequent run — a near-daily flight to Naples — but a courier-style mission that releases almost no Space-A seats. Treat it as a route Mildenhall flies, not as a Space-A option.
- Mildenhall's most useful Space-A run — flights to Ramstein carry meaningful seat counts, and Ramstein is the main AMC gateway for onward travel across Europe and home to the U.S.
- An occasional transatlantic run to Delaware — one of Mildenhall's rare direct links to the U.S. East Coast, on large aircraft when it flies.
- An occasional transatlantic run to central New Jersey — another infrequent but real link home to the East Coast.
- An occasional transatlantic run to South Carolina — JB Charleston is a major East Coast AMC hub.
- A rare hop to Spangdahlem in western Germany — near Ramstein, and another European connection point when one runs.

FAQ
Travelers ask these about this terminal specifically.
I know flights are based on mission requirements. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of making the flight?
Sign up early, and show up early to mark present. If only a few Space-A passengers have marked present shortly before roll call, terminal staff will tell mission planners that cargo can be added to the pallet positions that would have held seats. On certain aircraft, that means fewer Space-A seats than there are travelers waiting. The fix is to mark present as early as you can — don't wait until just before roll call.
Do I really need to bring a copy of my sign-up email?
Yes — always bring a hard copy of your sign-up email, and make sure it shows a date and time stamp. Terminal staff use that stamp to confirm your priority on the manifest at roll call.
Will they let me on the flight if my ID is expired?
No. Check every ID before you travel, and if any will expire during your trip, renew them now. Expired IDs (including your CAC, dependent ID, and passport) will keep you off the flight.
